Last Saturday was National AIDS Day and our school decided to put together a small AIDS awareness shindig to make sure that people understand that AIDS is still a huge problem, affecting millions of people every day. Matt and I were asked participate in the creation of a small video post-card urging Senators Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Representatives Xavier Cabrera and Diane Watson to continue supporting the African Health Capacity Investment- an act that would help increase the numbers of health care workers in Africa.
Here is the video!
Also, I was studying for Pathology today and just wanted to share with the general public the kind of test questions that will possibly be asked on Tuesday, December 18 (exam day! who-hoo!). The following is a very slightly abbreviated version of an actual test question
Q: A person has been feeling like crap for the past year and suddenly dies because of a blood clot in their lung. Here is a picture of their liver. How did the patient die?
Answer Choices
A) The liver has nothing to do with the death
B) The liver has cancer
C) The liver has cancer that spread to the lungs
D) The patients colon was screwed up the whole time
E) Hmm...we should have done something about the liver before the patient clocked out...
Answer: D!!! The colon! Which wasn't even talked about during the entire question! Turns out the colon REALLY had cancer which spread to the liver and then the lungs, which killed the patient!!!
What the heck...
Or Life as a Medical Student. (but not completely all about medicine because sometimes, you can just get sick of talking about the good ole' MD)
