zerobridge

I just listened to this great indie band called zerobridge. They're undiscovered, have been so for many years, but are so completely refreshing that I internally hope they stay that way, so as to not sell-out like so many good bands do (e.g. U2). I think I'm personally biased to be infatuated with them because their music speaks to me on a very personal level. The two brothers who founded the band, Mubashir Mohi-ud-Din (“Din,” also the guitarist/songwriter) and Mohsin (“Mo,” drummer) draw their inspiration from their Kashmiri roots. The bands name, zerobridge, is named after an actual bridge in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir (also known as the "city of seven bridges"). Although they've been around since 2001 and had a couple of albums come out too, they're most recent album "Havre de Grace" is bloody fantastic. Every song feels like it came from their soul, and how sweet it is to hear authentic un-poppy virgin music that is a complete reflection of one's truly artistic nature. How very sweet. Even though the brothers are Muslim, they are so openly honest about their criticism of Islamic extremism, -they come of as having a very frankly American perspective of the ridiculousness of unnecessary fighting and destruction happening in Kashmir. Their song, "The Shake", which exemplifies what I'm talking about, has intro lyrics as follows:

You’re a liar
A fucking hypocrite
With the name of God
You kill all the innocent
You read them scriptures
You sell all that heroin
It’s the cash crop baby
You do what you can

I don't know, it's just real and honest stuff. And I hope to hear more of it.
